Five-star carpet for Ireland’s only two-star Michelin restaurant
High quality 10-row bespoke woven carpet from Wilton Carpets Commercial has been fitted throughout the dining area and stairway of Ireland’s finest restaurant at Dublin’s Merrion Hotel.
The Merrion Hotel’s Georgian period interior has undergone extensive restoration using traditional techniques and has been cited as one of the most successful developments in Dublin of recent years. As part of this refurbishment, the original carpet in the hotel’s Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud was replaced.
A faithful reproduction of designer Stephen Harper’s original creation, the bespoke woven axminster carpet juxtaposes with an eclectic collection of art from some of Ireland’s most celebrated artists. Fitted throughout the dining area and stairwell leading to it, the new carpet provides the venue with a dynamic design that flows through the space in a bold and stunning purple, red, gold and taupe colourway. The result is a carpet that lends a stunning ambience to one of Ireland’s finest culinary venues.
Specified by For Floors Limited, Wilton Carpets Commercial was chosen to manufacture the carpet based on its track record of quality, service and expertise as Sean McBride, managing director, For Floors Limited, explains:
“Our excellent working relationship with Wilton Carpets’ representative in Ireland made the manufacturer a natural partner for such a high-end installation. Working to an existing design, the team’s attention to colour clarity and accuracy has produced a stunning carpet for one of our most prestigious projects to date and a great team effort ensured a smooth and trouble-free installation from start-to-finish.”
The bespoke axminster carpets were woven by Wilton Carpets in the UK at its Wiltshire production facility in a performance blend of 80% wool 20% nylon.
