Horsley Lodge Golf Club
Horsley Lodge is a hotel, wedding venue and conference centre as well as being ranked in the top 5 golf clubs in the East Midlands. They needed to refresh the social areas in the clubhouse with something beautiful and enduring. We were happy to help this prestigious club achieve that ambition.
The Project
The carpet was fitted into the main function room, foyer and ladies toilets. The room is used for an average of 2 weddings a week and was in need of a replacement to the previous floor covering of carpet tiles. Wilton Project Consultant, Stefan Heins visited the client and colour matched the room themes; the in house team were invited to choose their preferred design, getting creative with our Design Hub to match the chosen colours. This selection process was a labour of love with a number of hand trials made up to get the right tone. As the club knows, colour is critical to the design scheme but also to offer superior soil-hiding properties. The club is used so frequently for weddings and celebrations, it’s important to be able to disguise the odd wine spill.
The club were keen to retain their current design scheme by award winning Rachel McLane; it still looks fresh and current and is well liked in the club. Seeing the carpet in situ, it’s clear it not only fits, but actually enhanced the existing décor with team members commenting that the room looks like it’s had a total makeover, not just a new carpet.
The challenge with this refurbishment were the time constraints; we had to have the carpet woven and the fitting team from Winder Carpets available to fit between weddings in January. Despite additional complications due to covid, the manufacture, and fitting were achieved on time and on budget.
The commercial team are thrilled with the result, commenting:
“Within a week of fitting, the commercial team had sold 4 new wedding packages so the carpet has practically paid for itself in a week! Often couples will go and think about it, but these couples all signed on the dot. The smell and freshness of a new carpet sells! We had been showing organisers around previously hoping they wouldn’t see the floor, now it’s the first thing people see and comment on how exceptional it looks.”
