Five Star Carpet For A Five Star Hotel
A striking contemporary creation from Wilton Carpets Commercial now adorns the public areas of one of London’s most prestigious hotels.
The banqueting suite, ballroom and adjacent meeting rooms of the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel, Knightsbridge, are now graced with a completely bespoke 80% wool 20% nylon axminster carpet in a durable and luxurious 10-row construction. Wilton Carpets Commercial also added a shrink-resistant backing to the carpet to aid the vigorous maintenance schedule in place at the luxury five-star hotel.
Recommended by contractor Countrywide Carpets & Flooring and working closely with the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel management team, Wilton Carpets Commercial began with a concept floor plan that drew inspiration from the ceiling of the hotel, which is adorned with Viennese Crystal chandeliers. A magnificent golden chrysanthemum motif creates a focal point that reflects the luminous chandeliers, with the neutral palette of the carpet given an extra dimension with the introduction of black to add definition, contrast and shadow. A modern leaf design continues the theme on outfills and throughout the stairwells and other public areas, reflecting internal architecture and the ambience of the hotel.
“A lot of time and effort from Wilton Carpets, Countrywide Carpets and ourselves went into the design, shading and correct positioning of all areas to achieve this magnificent end result,” comments Gerard Denney, hotel manager. “We are extremely pleased with the positive feedback we have had from our clients.”
With exquisite attention to detail, Wilton Carpets minimised the amount and visibility of seams with careful planning, creating large non-repeating designs on electronic jacquard technology.

The bespoke Axminster carpets were designed and manufactured in the UK at Wilton Carpets’ factory in Wiltshire.
